Rayonier Advanced Materials (RYAM), has recently announced that it will indefinitely suspend operations at its high purity cellulose (HPC) facility in Témiscaming starting July 2, 2024. These measures are aimed at largely offsetting the costs associated with the HPC facility’s fixed and investment levels.
The decision has been made in light of the current market situation, as well as RYAM’s ongoing commitment to operate its assets in a seamlessly profitable manner. The firm insists that its ultimate goal is to leverage its assets sustainably, thereby bolstering its performance amidst market challenges.
Further analytical insight reveals that during the 3rd quarter of 2023, Rayonier Advanced Materials witnessed a revenue decline of 21.15% compared to its performance the same quarter in the prior year. This rate of decrease outpaced that of the firm’s competitors, which was reported as 13.26%.
In terms of net income, RYAM recorded losses, similar to most of its competitors, which saw an earnings decline of 64.56%. Consequently, the company’s market share also took a hit, dipping to 4.12% in Q3 2023 from 4.27% in the preceding quarter, marking a reduction of 4.61% over the past 12 months.
Regardless of these adverse metrics, Rayonier Advanced Materials remains steadfast in its resolution to leverage its resources profitably and sustainably, an approach that will be critical in managing its dynamic market conditions.
