Plus Therapeutics, an oncology-focused pharmaceutical company, recently provided updates on two major fronts’its Leptomeningeal Metastases acquisition and topline data from The Foresee (186Re) trial.
Leptomeningeal metastases (LM), a severe complication of cancer, results from the spread of malignant cells to the leptomeninges, the surfaces encapsulating the brain and spinal cord. Plus Therapeutics has embarked on the acquisition of a clinical development program specifically targeting this condition. This step aligns with the company’s mission to constantly innovate and provide potentially life-changing treatments for cancer patients, focusing particularly on rare and heavily burdened cancers.
Additionally, the company has reported topline clinical trial data from the Foresee trial. Notably, unlike traditional randomized controlled trials, Foresee trials aim to predict the efficacy of an intervention before confirming it in a larger scale phase 3 trial.
The company also announced its progress on the ReSPECT-LM Phase 1 trial of Rhenium (186Re) Obisbemeda in Leptomeningeal Metastases. Thus far, a total of 18 patients have been dosed in this trial. Dosing for Cohort 5, which focuses on the collection of data on the safety and efficacy of Rhenium (186Re) Obisbemeda in treating LM, has been completed. The data generated from this cohort will contribute to the essential understanding of the drug’s potential beneficial impacts on the patients suffering from LM.
Through these initiatives, Plus Therapeutics continues its progressive work in advancing cancer treatment to potentially increase survival rates and patient’s quality of life. The company’s multi-dimensional approach to counteracting cancer includes high emphasis on research as well as acquisition of promising programs to expand their portfolio of potential treatments.
