Northern Trust Selected by New Silk Road Investment for Outsourced Trading Solutions
Singapore-based investment manager, New Silk Road Investment, has chosen Northern Trust to provide outsourced trading services through its Integrated Trading Solutions (ITS). This partnership aims to enhance New Silk Road’s trading capabilities as it focuses on investing in Asian companies to achieve long-term returns.
Founded in 2009, New Silk Road has a strong track record in Asian investments and aims to leverage Northern Trust’s expertise to optimize its trading operations. This collaboration expands Northern Trust’s existing role in providing global custody services for New Silk Road funds.
Northern Trust, a leading provider of financial services, has recently recorded a 0.9% increase in its corporate customers’ cost of revenue in the first quarter of 2024 compared to the previous year. Sequentially, costs of revenue grew by 31.74%. In contrast, Northern Trust Corporation’s revenue slightly declined by -4.3% year-on-year, but sequentially, it grew by 7.89%. Conversely, revenue from Northern Trust Corporation’s corporate clients saw a significant increase of 10.34% year-on-year, with a sequential growth of 26.42%.These events have led to higher expenditures, resulting in a 0.9% rise in cost of sales compared to the same period the previous year. Additionally, businesses clients have shown a decline in investments and spending.
To assess consumer willingness to spend, particular attention should be given to sectors like the EV, Auto & Truck Manufacturers Industry, which experienced a 2.2% revenue growth, and the Personal Services Industry, which saw a growth of 10.65% in revenue.
The increase in revenue among Northern Trust’s corporate customers can be attributed to corporate clients in the Miscellaneous Financial Services industry as well as the Life Insurance industry. Notable clients, such as Mr. Cooper Group Inc (COOP) and Genworth Financial Inc (GNW), have exhibited remarkable growth. However, certain industries, like Construction Services and Iron & Steel, faced declining revenue.
Examining the behavior of corporate customers at the corporation stage, companies supplied by Northern Trust, such as Mr. Cooper Group Inc, Genworth Financial Inc, and Radian Group Inc (RDN), demonstrated significant efficiency.
However, not all corporations experienced positive results. Fragile businesses like Gibraltar Industries Inc (ROCK) faced challenges.
Surprisingly, Northern Trust’s performance has been affected by a decline in investment and spending by its business partners, resulting in a -26.27% decrease.
Analyzing the overall capital spending, one can observe a downturn of -10.82% in revenue in industries closely associated with it, such as the Computer Networks Industry.
These economic indicators have also influenced Northern Trust’s stock performance. Shareholders have raised concerns, as the company’s stock index has declined by -72.96% year-to-date, while NTRS shares have experienced a -0.25% decrease.
