HUTCHMED’s TAGRISSO and ORPATHYS Combination Shows Promising Efficacy in MET-Driven Lung Cancer: A New Benchmark in ROI Achieved’
New data demonstrate efficacy for the oral treatment combination to address MET-driven resistance in EGFR-mutated lung cancer’
Hutchmed China Limited has announced impressive results from its SAVANNAH Phase II trial, which evaluated the efficacy of TAGRISSO (osimertinib) in combination with ORPATHYS (savolitinib) for patients with lung cancer characterised by high levels of MET overexpression and/or amplification. The trial revealed a high and clinically meaningful response rate, showcasing the promising potential of this oral treatment combination to effectively combat MET-driven resistance in patients with EGFR-mutated lung cancer.
The SAVANNAH Phase II trial’s findings highlight the significant benefits that the TAGRISSO-ORPATHYS combination may offer to lung cancer patients, particularly those who exhibit resistance due to MET overexpression and amplification. This is an important development in the realm of precision medicine, providing a targeted approach to tackling one of the most challenging mutations in lung cancer.
In addition to these promising clinical findings, Hutchmed China Limited reported a notable return on average invested assets (ROI) of 11.36% for the fourth quarter of 2023 - marking a new high for the company. This significant improvement from a staggering -42.77% in the third quarter demonstrates a remarkable turnaround driven by net income growth.
Despite this achievement, within the healthcare sector, 38 other companies demonstrated a higher return on investment during the same period. Consequently, Hutchmed’s overall ROI ranking declined from the third quarter of 2023, shifting from a previous position of 0 to 408.
Nevertheless, the new clinical data on TAGRISSO and ORPATHYS marks a crucial step for Hutchmed in its quest to innovate and provide meaningful treatment options for lung cancer patients globally. This, coupled with the substantial improvement in ROI, suggests that the company is on a promising trajectory both scientifically and financially. As the medical community awaits more detailed data, these findings point towards a potentially transformative impact on the treatment of MET-driven EGFR-mutated lung cancer.HUTCHMED’s Dual Achievements: Promising Lung Cancer Trial Results and Record ROI’
