MetLife and UC Berkeley Launch Cleantech Accelerator Program for Startups
MetLife, Inc. in collaboration with the Haas School of Business at the University of California, Berkeley, has announced the opening of applications for the 2024 cohort of the Cleantech to Market (C2M) accelerator program. The program aims to identify and support promising climate tech innovations from startups across the country. The selected startups will receive free commercialization support through a partnership with interdisciplinary graduate student teams. The application window for the program will remain open until March 10.
This initiative reflects MetLife’s commitment to environmental sustainability and its focus on investing in cleantech solutions. The company has been actively involved in fostering innovation in the field, as evidenced by its previous recognition as a Best Place to Work in Money Management for the third consecutive year by Pensions & Investments.
MetLife Investment Management (MIM), the institutional asset management business of MetLife, Inc. has also announced a $30 million multi-year commitment to support Upstate New York. The commitment includes $5 million in funding and impact investments by MetLife Foundation and $25 million in impact investments by MetLife. As part of this commitment, MetLife Foundation has already made a $1 million impact investment in Launch NY, an organization promoting entrepreneurship in the region.
