Keysight Technologies Secures Mandate from the United Nations for Automotive Cybersecurity
Keysight Technologies, a renowned security solutions firm based in California, has earned a prestigious recognition from the United Nations Economic Commission for Europe (UNECE). Recognized by the Netherlands Vehicle Authority (RDW), Keysight, and its security research lab, Riscure Security Solutions will take the helm as the designated technical service providers for UNECE’s R155 and R156 regulations.
UNECE’s R155 and R156 regulations have been established by the World Forum for Harmonization of Vehicle Regulations (WP.29) and predominantly focus on automotive cybersecurity and software standards. Keysight’s role will be crucial in determining the resilience and protection protocols of automotive systems as per global standards.
Keysight has continually announced strides in enhancing automotive cybersecurity. In partnership with ETAS, they aim to offer comprehensive cybersecurity solutions for automakers and suppliers, securing them from potential software vulnerabilities when their vehicles hit the road. This groundbreaking partnership integrates ETAS’s ESCRYPT CycurFUZZ smart automotive fuzzer tool into Keysight’s Automotive Cybersecurity Test Platform, thereby reinforcing it with ultra-modern, industry-compliant security measures.
Moreover, Keysight has introduced new testing capabilities to strengthen the robustness of post-quantum cryptography (PQC)’a critical step considering the accelerated risk brought about by the evolution of quantum computing. Keysight’s inspector now includes an automated solution’an industry-first’that tests PQC robustness, a significant enhancement that equips device and chip vendors with advanced tools to identify hardware vulnerabilities and implement effective fixes promptly.
This mandate from the United Nations Economic Commission for Europe commends Keysight’s dedication to automotive cybersecurity. Striving to stay ahead, the California-based technology firm is combining its expertise with leading industry players to present comprehensive solutions, ensuring that the growing interconnectedness of automotive systems does not lead to compromised vehicles’ safety on the roads.
Keysight’s persistence and commitment to cyber safety exhibits not only its capacity to curate state-of-the-art solutions that meet global standards, but also its readiness to tackle the imminent cybersecurity challenges that quantum computing might bring, marking a crucial step forward for an increasingly digital vehicle industry.
