Helius Medical Technologies, Inc. a pioneer in novel therapeutic neuromodulation approaches, has announced its alliance with Shepherd Center for expanding its stroke clinical program focused on restoring walking mobility in stroke recovery patients. This partnership aligns with the company’s programmatic approach to broaden the labeling of its marketed PoNS device for stroke patients. This revolutionary move will see Shepherd Center join Brooks Rehabilitation, part of Helius’ U.S. registrational program as the third clinical site.
Delivering renowned healthcare services for intensive and comprehensive rehabilitation to people with spinal cord injury and disease, brain injury, stroke, multiple sclerosis, and other neuromuscular disorders and diseases, the Shepherd Center is acclaimed for its groundbreaking innovation in clinical care. Under the expert leadership of Michael Yochelson, Chief Medical Officer, the center joins Helius Medical Technologies in its quest towards discovering comprehensive stroke recovery treatments, thereby reinforcing its commitment to patient-focused services.
The collaboration entails a Company-sponsored single-arm study that strives to investigate the efficacy of PoNS, a Portable Neuromodulation Stimulator, in treating and amending gait and balance deficits prevalent among chronic stroke survivors. The initiation of this study is a significant step forward in progressing Helius’s clinical development program which intends to further expand its stroke clinical program. The regulatory submission, intending to seek marketing authorization for stroke applications, is anticipated in 2025.
Earlier, Helius had announced its partnership with Brooks Rehabilitation Hospital, thereby adding it as a second site to its registrational program dedicated to stroke. By involving the innovative treatment of PoNS, this study aims to assess non-invasive neuromodulation of the cranial nerve for compensating for gait/balance deficits in patients battling with stroke. With the addition of Brooks Rehabilitation, the program has encompassed a total strength of 100 patients.
Helius continues to push past the conventional boundaries of stroke recovery treatment by integrating leading medical centers into its programs while incorporating advanced technology to deliver solutions for debilitating neurodegenerative conditions. The company remains committed to delivering innovative, patient-centric solutions that aim at restoring balance and mobility in stroke survivors. As Helius evolves and expands its partnerships, it lays a strong foundation for a future where stroke-related debility is only a temporary obstacle rather than a lifelong condition.
In conclusion, these announcements highlight Helius Medical Technologies’ relentless pursuit of innovative stroke recovery treatments. Through these strategic alliances with multiple hospitals, there is enhanced potential in its clinical development programs that seek to revolutionize therapeutic neuromodulation approach. These partnerships indicate a significant milestone in the medical world, their endeavor collectively moving towards a future where improved care for stroke survivors is not just a vision, but a tangible reality.
