EHang’s Pilotless eVTOL Air Operator Certificate Application Accepted by CAAC
EHang Holdings Limited, the world’s leading urban air mobility technology platform company, has announced that its Air Operator Certificate (AOC) applications have been formally accepted by the Civil Aviation Administration of China (CAAC). The applications were submitted by Guangdong EHang General Aviation Co. Ltd. (EHang General Aviation) and Hefei Heyi Aviation Co. Ltd. (Heyi Aviation), EHang’s wholly-owned subsidiary and joint venture company respectively. This acceptance marks the beginning of the review process for the applicants’ business license and operational qualification for pilotless passenger-carrying aerial vehicles. The CAAC has set up a specialized review team to carry out the subsequent review process, demonstrating a consensus on procedures, subjects, and frameworks.
EHang has been making significant strides in the urban air mobility industry. In June 2024, the company delivered 27 units of EH216-S passenger-carrying pilotless aircraft to Wencheng County Transportation Development Group Co. Ltd. in Wenzhou, Zhejiang Province. This delivery not only showcases the technological capabilities of EHang but also drives the comprehensive development of Wencheng’s low-altitude economy industry.
Furthermore, EHang’s EH216-S pilotless electric vertical takeoff and landing (eVTOL) aircraft successfully completed its debut autonomous air taxi flight in Mecca, Saudi Arabia. This landmark flight, conducted with rigorous safety measures, highlights EHang’s unwavering commitment to safety and innovation. The collaboration with Saudi-based enterprise Front End Limited Company showcases the transformative potential of pilotless eVTOL aircraft in revolutionizing the transportation system of the region.
