EDF Renewables North America and Enbridge Announce Commercial Operation of Fox Squirrel Solar

Milestone for Renewable Energy: EDF Renewables and Enbridge Mark Completion of Amazon Solar Farm Ohio Fox Squirrel Solar

SAN DIEGO & CALGARY, Alberta EDF Renewables North America, in partnership with Enbridge Inc., has celebrated a significant achievement in the realm of sustainable energy with the completion and full operation of the Amazon Solar Farm Ohio - Fox Squirrel Solar project. Marking an important milestone in their collaboration, and in the advancement of renewable energy infrastructure across North America, the project was declared fully operational in December 2024. It now proudly contributes to the PJM grid, reinforcing the utility-scale solar capacity in the region.

The Fox Squirrel Solar project, a striking example of contemporary engineering and environmental responsibility, is composed of three distinct phases. The project boasts a considerable total capacity of 577 MWac/749 MWdc, positioning it as one of the largest ground-mounted solar facilities in operation. Strategically located in Madison County, Ohio, the solar farm is noted for its expansive reach and sophisticated design, aimed at harnessing solar power in an efficient and effective manner.

The journey to full operational status began with the successful completion of Phase 1, which saw the delivery of 150 MWac of clean solar power to the grid. The completion of this initial phase was celebrated with more than 100 guests, recognizing the synergistic effort between EDF Renewables North America and Enbridge Inc. to underscore their commitment to a sustainable energy future.
