Cloud-Native Technologies Generate Unmanageable Data, Dynatrace Reports
WALTHAM, Mass. - In a recent press release, Dynatrace, the leading provider of unified observability and security solutions, shared the significant results of a global survey conducted on over 1,300 CIOs and technology leaders. The independent research sheds light on the widespread adoption of multicloud environments and cloud-native architectures among organizations, driving rapid transformation and secure innovation. However, amidst the advantages seen in speed, scalability, and agility, an explosion of data is being created that surpasses humans’ ability to manage effectively.
The survey, which included large organizations from various industries, revealed a remarkable trend towards the adoption of multicloud environments, with 77% of respondents already using more than one public or private cloud platform. Additionally, 89% of respondents indicated that their organizations are undertaking cloud-native approaches to development, emphasizing the growing importance of cloud-native technologies in driving digital transformation.
Cloud-native architectures enable organizations to build and deploy applications using microservices, containers, and Kubernetes, facilitating flexible and scalable solutions that improve efficiency and speed. However, with the increased adoption of these modern cloud ecosystems comes the generation of vast amounts of data.
The survey found that 76% of organizations are generating so much data from their cloud-native technologies that it exceeds human capabilities to effectively analyze and manage it. This data explosion poses significant challenges for organizations, including difficulties in obtaining actionable insights, identifying performance bottlenecks, and ensuring application security.
To address this issue, Dynatrace has been collaborating with Lloyds Banking Group, one of the UK’s leading financial services providers, to measure the environmental carbon impact of its IT ecosystem. This collaboration has led to the development of Dynatrace Carbon Impact, an app that provides valuable insights and feedback to help organizations reduce their carbon emissions and contribute to their sustainability goals.
Moreover, Dynatrace recently announced its acquisition of Runecast, an AI-powered security and compliance solutions provider. By integrating Runecast with the Dynatrace platform, customers can benefit from enhanced contextual security protection and analytics, enabling them to mitigate the risks of misconfigurations and compliance violations in hybrid and multicloud environments.
As organizations embrace cloud-native technologies and multicloud environments at an increasingly rapid pace, the challenges associated with managing the vast amounts of data generated are becoming more apparent. Dynatrace’s survey highlights the need for advanced solutions and strategies to effectively analyze and derive actionable insights from this data explosion.
