Caribou Biosciences Presents Encouraging Clinical Data from CB-010 ANTLER Phase 1 Trial in Second-line LBCL Patients at the 2024 ASCO Annual Meeting
Caribou Biosciences, a leading biotechnology company specializing in genome editing and cell therapy, recently presented promising clinical data from their CB-010 ANTLER Phase 1 trial at the 2024 American Society of Clinical Oncology (ASCO) Annual Meeting. The data showed that CB-010, an allogeneic CAR-T cell therapy with partial HLA matching, holds the potential to rival the efficacy and safety profile of approved autologous CAR-T cell therapies.
One of the key findings from the trial was the significant improvement in median progression-free survival (PFS) among patients with partial HLA matching. These patients experienced a median PFS of 14.4 months, demonstrating the potential of CB-010 as an effective treatment option for second-line large B-cell lymphoma (LBCL) patients.
The success of the ANTLER trial has led Caribou Biosciences to expand the clinical development of CB-010 beyond oncology. Earlier this year, the company received clearance from the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) to initiate a Phase 1 clinical trial for CB-010 in lupus nephritis and extrarenal lupus. The GALLOP trial, expected to begin by the end of 2024, aims to assess the safety and efficacy of CB-010 in patients with autoimmune diseases.
Dr. Tim Kelly has been appointed as the Chief Technology Officer of Caribou Biosciences, taking charge of the company’s technical operations strategy and execution. This strategic appointment is aligned with Caribou’s commitment to advancing their innovative cell therapy pipeline and bringing multiple clinical catalysts to fruition in 2024.
In line with their plans for CB-010, Caribou Biosciences intends to disclose the initial dose expansion data and recommended phase 2 dose (RP2D) for the ANTLER trial in the second quarter of 2024. Furthermore, the company aims to initiate a pivotal Phase 3 trial for CB-010 in second-line LBCL by the end of the year.
Overall, Caribou Biosciences’ presentation of encouraging clinical data from the CB-010 ANTLER trial signifies a significant milestone in the development of allogeneic CAR-T cell therapies. With the potential to rival autologous CAR-T cell therapies, CB-010 offers hope for improved treatment outcomes and expanded indications beyond oncology. The company’s commitment to advancing their cell therapy pipeline in both oncology and autoimmune diseases is a testament to their dedication to transforming patient care and addressing unmet medical needs.
