Archer Receives FAA Certification and Forms Strategic Partnerships for eVTOL Aircraft Expansion
SANTA CLARA, Calif. - In a recent press release, Archer Aviation Inc. (NYSE: ACHR), a prominent player in the electric vertical takeoff and landing (eVTOL) aircraft industry, announced several significant developments that are set to propel the company forward in the commercial aviation sector. With the receipt of its Part 135 Air Carrier & Operator Certificate from the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA), Archer’s subsidiary, Archer Air, is now authorized to commence commercial operations utilizing its cutting-edge technology.
This certification is a major milestone for Archer and positions the company to refine its systems and procedures before launching its flagship eVTOL aircraft, Midnight, into service for major airlines, including United Airlines. By operating commercially, Archer will have the opportunity to gather valuable data and insights that will contribute to the further enhancement of its aircraft’s performance, safety, and efficiency.
Archer has also achieved another significant regulatory milestone, as the FAA has issued the final airworthiness criteria for its Midnight aircraft. This advancement solidifies the path for Archer to obtain Type Certification for Midnight, positioning the company as one of the select few globally to have made progress in acquiring FAA certification for an eVTOL aircraft. The issuance of these airworthiness criteria further highlights Archer’s commitment to meet rigorous safety and performance standards, ensuring the viability of its aircraft for commercial operations.
In addition to these achievements, Archer has partnered with Etihad Aviation Training to establish a strategic collaboration for eVTOL pilot recruitment and training. Under the memorandum of understanding (MOU) signed between Archer and Etihad Training, the groundwork has been laid to recruit and train prospective pilots in Abu Dhabi specifically for operating Archer’s Midnight aircraft across the United Arab Emirates (UAE). This partnership underscores Archer’s commitment to developing a skilled and qualified pilot force to support the expansion of its eVTOL services.
Archer’s collaboration with Etihad Training was officially announced during the Future Aviation Forum in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, where Archer was showcasing its innovative eVTOL technology. This forum provides a platform for industry leaders, innovators, and policymakers to discuss the future of aviation and explore ways to embrace sustainable and efficient air transportation solutions.
The combined achievements of receiving FAA certification, successful progress towards Type Certification, and the strategic partnership with Etihad Training demonstrate Archer’s determination to revolutionize the aviation industry with its state-of-the-art eVTOL aircraft. As the need for sustainable transportation solutions continues to grow, Archer is positioned to play a leading role in reshaping the future of air travel.
