(Nasdaq: AMRX) (Amneal) and Shilpa Medicare Limited (Shilpa) today announced that the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has approved BORUZU, marking the debut of a revolutionary ready-to-use version of bortezomib for subcutaneous administration. This advancement aims to streamline cancer treatment procedures by reducing the compounding preparation steps traditionally associated with the drug.
BORUZU (bortezomib injection) is designed for both subcutaneous and intravenous (IV) administration. Bortezomib is a proteasome inhibitor widely used in the treatment of multiple myeloma and mantle cell lymphoma. The launch of a ready-to-use formulation is expected to significantly ease the burden on healthcare providers, who formerly needed to undertake multiple preparation steps before administering the drug.
