This firm fixed-price delivery order is part of the Lot 20 procurement, which encompasses the delivery of 60 BQM-167A Air Force Subscale Aerial Target (AFSAT) aircraft, alongside associated mission kits, flight consumables, and technical data.
The award is part of a broader five-year base contract and incorporates significant enhancements under the Gas, Aero, Payload, Power (GAPP) initiative. This upgrade marks the most substantial capability improvement to the BQM-167A Product Baseline to date, facilitating the aircraft’s ability to replicate increasingly advanced threats. The enhancements are expected to bolster the U.S. Air Force’s weapon systems verification and training efforts, which rely heavily on the operational capabilities provided by these aerial target systems.
The contract represents the largest single procurement of BQM-167A aircraft by the Air Force Life Cycle Management Center, located at Eglin Air Force Base in Florida. The BQM-167A systems play a vital role in military training exercises, simulating enemy aircraft to help U.S. forces prepare for a variety of combat scenarios.
