AECOM to Support $1.5 Billion Susquehanna River Rail Bridge Project and Other Major U.S. Rail Projects
Global infrastructure consulting firm, AECOM, has been selected by Amtrak to support the development of the $1.5 billion Susquehanna River Rail Bridge Project (SRB). The project aims to enhance rail connectivity and safety along the U.S. Northeast Corridor by replacing the existing 117-year-old bridge in Maryland with two new bridges that will increase capacity and improve reliability for both freight and passenger transportation.
AECOM will provide design services as part of the Pape North Connect Team, partnering with Infrastructure Ontario and Metrolinx, to deliver the Pape Tunnel and Underground Stations (PTUS) contract for the Ontario Line. This 15.6-kilometer rapid transit line in Toronto is expected to enhance access and reduce daily travel time for commuters, and AECOM’s expertise in tunneling will contribute to the project’s success.
Furthermore, AECOM has secured funding from the Federal-State Partnership for Intercity Passenger Rail Grant Program for several major rail projects across the United States. This program will allocate approximately $16.4 billion in total funding for critical rail infrastructure, particularly along the heavily-used Northeast Corridor and nationwide.
With their extensive experience and expertise, AECOM continues to partner with key clients to deliver the next generation of major U.S. rail projects. These initiatives will not only enhance transportation connectivity but also contribute to economic growth and improved quality of life for millions of people.
