Ames National's Comment on Supply Chain

In central Iowa, banks and financial service providers compete within a market that includes major commercial banks such as First Interstate Bank, U.S. Bank National Association, and Wells Fargo Bank. Larger banks benefit from higher legal lending limits and greater capacity to finance extensive advertising. Competition among banks is based on specialized services, local promotions, personal customer relationships, diverse deposit programs, convenient branch locations, competitive interest rates, and experienced local lending staff. As of December 31, 2025, there were 48 FDIC-insured institutions operating approximately 123 locations across several Iowa counties. First National, State Bank, and Reliance Bank hold the largest deposit shares in Story County, with Reliance Bank leading in Hancock County. Additionally, banks face competition from financial markets, credit unions, fintech companies, and other non-bank entities. The Company and these banks are subject to comprehensive federal and state regulations and supervision focused primarily on protecting depositors and the FDIC.
