Surge Components Inc's Comment on Sales, Marketing and Customers

Surge sells electronic components primarily through three of the top four global electronic component distributors and to subcontractors manufacturing for their customers. Its products are mainly manufactured in Asia by approximately sixteen independent manufacturers. Surge maintains a long-term supply agreement exclusively with Lelon Electronics, acting as its exclusive sales agent in North America. Challenge, a division established in 1999, sells audible electronic components such as buzzers, speakers, microphones, resonators, alarms, chimes, filters, and discriminators. Challenge customizes and redesigns products with suppliers based on customer designs, supported by in-house engineers. It distributes products through independent representatives and local, regional, and national distributors to accounts across the United States. Challenge also brokers certain products to assist customers in sourcing parts unavailable from regular suppliers. Both Surge and Challenge operate within the electronics and semiconductor industries and face intense price competition. The U.S. electronics distribution industry includes manufacturers and distributors at various levels—national, international, regional, and local—marketing active components, passive components, electromechanical parts, interconnects, and computer products. Surge’s primary focus is on capacitors.
