The company provides transportation services to various industries, including manufacturing, industrial production, automotive, construction, agriculture, wholesale and retail, and energy. Its intermodal business facilitates connections between customers and railroads through trucks and terminals. CSX serves numerous production and distribution facilities via connections with other Class I railroads and approximately 250 short-line and regional railroads. CSX's subsidiaries focus on specific markets: Quality Carriers, Inc. offers bulk liquid chemical truck transportation; CSX Intermodal Terminals, Inc. operates intermodal terminals and drayage services; Total Distribution Services, Inc. supports the automotive industry with distribution centers and storage; and TRANSFLO Terminal Services, Inc. connects customers not served by rail, concentrating on chemicals and agriculture, including plastics and ethanol. In 2025, CSX's services generated $14.1 billion in revenue across merchandise, intermodal, coal, and trucking lines of business.
