CRE loans, which constitute 79% of the commercial loan portfolio and 43% of total loans, are secured by non-owner occupied real property and include construction loans for land development or building construction. C&I loans represent 21% of commercial loans and 11% of total loans; they offer working capital, equipment financing, and other business-related financing, often secured by business assets or owner-occupied real estate, and include tax-exempt loans to states and political subdivisions as well as industrial development or revenue bonds. Residential real estate loans make up 40% of total loans and consist of mortgage and homeowner construction loans secured by one- to four-family residential properties. These loans are primarily originated by commissioned mortgage originator employees and are made both for retention and for sale to the secondary market.
