The company primarily serves customers in Ohio and Pennsylvania, regions with a high concentration of financial service providers. It competes for loans with savings banks, savings and loan associations, commercial banks, mortgage banking companies, credit unions, insurance companies, and other financial service firms. Competition for deposits comes mainly from savings and loan associations, savings banks, commercial banks, credit unions, as well as non-depository entities such as mutual fund companies, securities and brokerage firms, and insurance companies. In 2009, the company acquired Farmers Trust Company, which provides personal and corporate trust services including estate settlement, trust administration, employee benefit plans, and retirement services. Farmers Trust operates five offices located in Boardman, Canton, Howland, Wooster, and Fairview Park, Ohio. In 2024, Farmers Trust acquired substantially all assets of Crest Retirement Advisors, LLC. The company also owns subsidiaries Farmers National Insurance, LLC, which offers various insurance products, and Farmers of Canfield Investment Company, which invests in municipal securities. These subsidiaries do not represent a material portion of the company's revenue and are included in the Bank's overall operations.
