Synaptics Incorporated's Comment on Supply Chain

The company operates a fabless semiconductor manufacturing model, outsourcing the production of silicon wafers to third-party manufacturers based on its proprietary designs. These wafers are subsequently processed into die and packaged ASICs by third-party packaging and testing providers. The die and ASICs are then either assembled by contract manufacturers or shipped directly to customers. The majority of the company's contract manufacturers and semiconductor fabricators are located in Asia. The company supplies contract manufacturers with six-month rolling forecasts. In response to previous supply constraints in the global semiconductor industry, the company has established long-term capacity and pricing agreements with certain suppliers, while maintaining reliance on a limited number of sources and occasionally utilizing alternative suppliers to mitigate risk.
