B And G Foods Inc's Comment on Supply Chain

The company procures raw materials including agricultural products, oils, meat, poultry, flour, ingredients, and packaging materials from growers, commodity processors, food companies, and packaging suppliers in the United States and internationally. Key raw materials consist of corn, peas, broccoli, oils, beans, pepper, garlic, spices, maple syrup, wheat, nuts, cheese, fruits, tomatoes, meat, sugar, concentrates, molasses, and corn sweeteners. Vegetables for the Green Giant brand are primarily obtained through dedicated acreage supply contracts with multiple growers, supplemented by third-party sources. Pepper, garlic, and other spices and herbs are mainly sourced from outside the U.S., while most maple syrup is purchased from Canada. Packaging materials include glass jars, cans, cardboard, and plastic containers. The company experiences cost fluctuations influenced by factors such as crop size, government programs, export demand, currency exchange rates, natural disasters, weather conditions, pests, and material prices. Significant cost inflation occurred from fiscal years 2021 through early 2023 and remained elevated through fiscal 2026. Risk management strategies include short-term supply contracts, advance purchase agreements, cost-saving initiatives, and price adjustments. Gross profit margins improved beginning in late 2022 through fiscal 2023 and remained stable in fiscal years 2024 and 2025. The company notes that failure to offset cost increases could materially impact operating results. The company operates ten manufacturing facilities.
