Boise Cascade's Comment on Supply Chain

The Wood Products operations primarily use wood fiber, mainly logs, which represented approximately 37% of materials, labor, and other operating expenses in 2025. Logs accounted for about 80% of wood fiber costs and were obtained through supply agreements, open-market purchases, and public auction contracts, with roughly 88% sourced from private landowners or dealers. The company also participates in auctions conducted by federal, state, and local authorities. Oriented strand board (OSB), used in I-joist assembly, comprised about 5% of related expenses and is purchased as a commodity with fluctuating prices. Additionally, veneer and lumber are acquired from third parties for engineered wood products and laminated beam production. Log costs vary regionally due to differences in harvest and delivery expenses, supply constraints, fuel prices, and transportation logistics.
