Cumulus Media Inc
Cumulus Media Inc is a publicly traded American broadcasting company headquartered in Atlanta, Georgia. Founded in 1997, Cumulus Media ranks as one of the largest radio station owners and operators in the country, with a portfolio of 428 radio stations - including 84 of the top 100 U.S. markets - and a presence in over 87 markets nationwide.

The company operates in two divisions, Radio Station Group and Westwood One, which collectively reach over 245 million people each week across all platforms, including on-air, digital, and live events. The Radio Station Group is responsible for the acquisition, operation, and management of Cumulus Media's portfolio of radio stations, while Westwood One is a leading provider of network radio programming and advertising sales.

Cumulus Radio Station Group:

The Radio Station Group oversees a diverse range of radio stations in terms of format, including country, news/talk, classic rock, adult contemporary, and more. Cumulus stations broadcast on both AM and FM frequencies and operate in major, mid-sized, and small markets, making them a key player in the radio industry. Some of the most popular brands under the Cumulus Media umbrella include KLOS in Los Angeles, Westwood One News, and Nash FM.

Westwood One:

Westwood One, the other division of Cumulus, is a syndicator and distributor of radio content including talk shows, news, sports, and music programming. The company provides local and national advertisers with efficient and effective media delivery through the largest audio network in the US. Regarded as a major player in the radio industry, Westwood One partners with other major radio networks, like iHeartRadio and NPR, for some of its content production.

In addition to radio station ownership and content distribution, Cumulus Media also operates digital and mobile platforms to stay ahead of the evolving radio industry. The company's digital offerings include streaming services, podcasts, content websites, and mobile apps, which make their programming available to listeners worldwide.

However, the company had experienced financial difficulties in recent years, and in November 2020, it was revealed that an affiliate of private equity firm, Platinum Equity, had signed an agreement to acquire Cumulus Media. The deal is expected to close in the first half of 2021.

Overall, Cumulus Media has established itself as a leader in the radio industry with a vast network of owned and operated radio stations, as well as a wide range of syndicated content through Westwood One. Despite the company's difficult financial situation, Cumulus remains a dominant player in the industry with its extensive audience reach and innovative digital platforms.
