Business Description
The SMTA Liquidating Trust is a trust that was established to dispose of the assets held by the now-defunct electronics manufacturer, Sanmina-SCI Corporation. Sanmina-SCI Corporation was a leading electronic manufacturing services (EMS) company, which specialized in the design, fabrication, and assembly of printed circuit boards, electronic systems, and cables.
Sanmina-SCI Corporation announced its Chapter 11 bankruptcy filing in April 2001, and the case was officially closed in March 2005. The company ceased trading on NASDAQ in August 2001 and was delisted from the stock exchange. As a part of the bankruptcy settlement, a Liquidating Trust was formed, and all remaining assets, contracts, and claims were transferred to it.
The SMTA Liquidating Trust is managed by a Board of Trustees, who are responsible for executing the trust's mandate. The mandate of the trust is to dispose of the assets of Sanmina-SCI Corporation, distribute the proceeds to creditors, and close the trust.
