Stephen W. Beard, 54, serves as Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Adtalem. He joined the company in February 2018 as Senior Vice President, Secretary, and General Counsel, became Chief Operating Officer and General Counsel in January 2019, assumed responsibility for the Financial Services segment in February 2020, was appointed President and CEO in September 2021, and Chairman in November 2024. Prior to Adtalem, Beard held leadership positions at Heidrick & Struggles International from 2003 to 2018, most recently as Executive Vice President, Chief Administrative Officer, and General Counsel.
Douglas G. Beck, 58, is Senior Vice President, General Counsel, Corporate Secretary, and Institutional Support Services at Adtalem. He joined the company in June 2021 as Senior Vice President, General Counsel, and Corporate Secretary, adding institutional support services responsibilities in January 2023. His previous roles include Executive Vice President, General Counsel, and Secretary at Hub Group (2011–2021), as well as legal positions at Alberto Culver, Navistar, and Allegiance Healthcare.
Michael Betz, 52, holds the positions of Chief Digital Officer and President of Walden University at Adtalem. He joined in May 2022 as President of Walden University and became Chief Digital Officer in January 2025. Before joining Adtalem, Betz was a partner at McKinsey & Company from 2017 to 2022, leading higher education and growth transformation practices.
Dr. Karen Cox, 65, is President of Chamberlain University. She joined Adtalem in August 2018. Prior to that, she served as Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer at Children’s Mercy – Kansas City from 2006 to 2018, and as Senior Vice President for Patient Care Services and Chief Nursing Officer from 2004 to 2006.
Manjunath Gangadharan, 43, is Vice President and Chief Accounting Officer at Adtalem. He joined in April 2022. Previously, he was Vice President and Corporate Controller at Culligan International starting in April 2021, and held various leadership roles at Groupon Inc. from 2016 to 2020, including Chief Accounting Officer.
Maurice Herrera, 55, serves as Senior Vice President and Chief Marketing Officer. He joined Adtalem in October 2021. His prior roles include Senior Vice President and Americas Chief Marketing Officer at Avis Budget from 2018 to 2021, and Senior Vice President and Head of Marketing at Weight Watchers from 2014 to 2018.
Sara Hill, 56, is Senior Vice President and Chief Human Resources Officer at Adtalem. She joined in September 2024. Previously, she was Chief Human Resources Officer at Intricon from 2020 to 2024 and at Ceridian from 2012 to 2016.
Scott Liles, 59, is President of Medical and Veterinary at Adtalem. He joined in April 2024. Prior to this, he was CEO of the Association of Certified Anti-Money Laundering Specialists (ACAMS) from March 2022, having served as President and Managing Director of ACAMS from 2020 to 2022. He also held the position of President at Spire Insurance, Nationwide Insurance, from 2018 to 2020.
