Trinity Industries Inc's Comment on Supply Chain

The company manufactures railcars that require substantial raw materials, primarily steel, along with specialty components including brakes, wheels, heads, side frames, bolsters, and bearings. Raw steel and specialty components account for over 70% of the cost of most railcars. Although the number of alternative suppliers for specialty components has decreased, at least two suppliers continue to produce most components. In 2025, steel supply was sufficient to meet manufacturing needs; however, steel prices remain volatile, affecting costs and demand. To address steel price volatility, the company employs contract-specific purchasing, supplier commitments, and price escalation provisions. Occasional global supply chain disruptions have caused material shortages, potentially impacting operations and delivery schedules. The company actively monitors and manages its supply chain to mitigate these effects.
