Quad's Comment on Supply Chain

Quad's print business primarily uses paper, ink, and energy as raw materials. About half of the paper is supplied directly by clients, while the remainder is sourced through negotiations with multiple leading paper vendors, avoiding reliance on any single supplier. The company manufactures most of its own ink, procuring raw materials from various external vendors. Energy costs, including electricity and natural gas, influence manufacturing expenses, with some cost mitigation achieved through natural gas hedging. In logistics, increases in fuel prices are generally passed on to clients. The paper supply is affected by market factors such as paper mill closures, raw material availability, changes in paper types, transportation challenges, tariffs, and trade restrictions. Sales contracts include price adjustment clauses to help manage paper price risks, although elevated prices and supply limitations may impact client demand.
