Patterson Uti Energy Inc's Comment on Supply Chain
Ulterra operates manufacturing and repair facilities for drilling equipment in North America and internationally, with locations in Fort Worth, Texas; Leduc, Alberta; Saudi Arabia; Argentina; Colombia; and Oman. The company designs, manufactures, sells, and rents polycrystalline diamond compact (PDC) drill bits and downhole tools, holding a leading position in the North American PDC drill bit market. Ulterra also evaluates inactive equipment for marketability and repurposes usable components. Prior to its divestiture in April 2025, the oilfield rentals business maintained a fleet of rental tools and equipment for land-based drilling activities in major U.S. basins. The company holds non-operating working interests in oil and natural gas assets in Texas and New Mexico. Research, engineering, and technology teams support product and service development. Ulterra purchases materials either on the spot market or through other arrangements, which may involve purchase commitments or payment of liquidated damages. Due to a limited number of suppliers for certain materials, alternative sourcing may be difficult if agreements cannot be reached or if suppliers, including trucking companies, fail to deliver on time. Contracts typically include customary indemnification rights and obligations for the relevant markets.
