Crown Electrokinetics's Comment on Supply Chain

The company utilizes millions of square feet of indium tin oxide (ITO) on polyethylene terephthalate (PET) for capacitance-based display touch screens. The roll-to-roll embossing process of UV-curable resin in a proprietary 3-D pattern is conducted by various plastic film companies, including Crown, which performs coating and embossing within its facility and collaborates with manufacturing partners. The lamination process involves sealing a pigment-containing fluid between two PET layers with ITO film; this fluid contains electrically charged nanometer-sized pigment particles suspended within it. The company's product, Smart Window Inserts powered by DynamicTint™ electrokinetic film technology, is solar-powered, wirelessly enabled, and sensor-equipped, designed to retrofit existing commercial windows. A phased rollout is planned to begin in 2025, targeting major U.S. cities. Suppliers identified include Crown and various plastic film companies involved in the embossing process.
