The recovery of coins and artifacts from the SS Republic required us to create
a marketing plan specifically to sell these coins and artifacts. Initially, coins
were sold to independent coin dealers who sold them through direct marketing and
television outlets. The SS Republic silver coin program was re-developed in 2008
to take advantage of emerging research on the silver coins from the SS Republic.
This included the release of the 1861-O silver half dollar issued by the State
of Louisiana in between the time it seceded from the Union and when it joined
the Confederate States of America. Additionally, Odyssey has continued to expand
distribution channels in recent years with a broader base of coin and collectible
marketers, including opening markets overseas.
