Our operations are grouped into three business segments: Mountain, Lodging and Real Estate.
We own and/or manage a collection of luxury hotels and condominiums under the RockResorts brand; other strategic lodging properties and a large number of condominiums located near our North American mountain resorts; National Park Service ("NPS") concessionaire properties, including the Grand Teton Lodge Company ("GTLC"), which operates destination resorts in Grand Teton National Park; a Colorado resort ground transportation company and a large number of condominiums located near our North American mountain resorts; and a Colorado resort ground transportation company.
The sale of lift tickets, including pass products, as well as a comprehensive offering of amenities available to guests, such as ski and snowboard lessons, equipment rentals and retail merchandise sales, a variety of dining venues, private club operations, and other winter and summer recreational activities, generate revenue for our Mountain segment. We lease some of our owned and leased commercial space to third-party operators to offer distinctive restaurants and retail establishments to the mix of facilities at the base of our resorts, in addition to providing comprehensive guest amenities.
Many of our year-round destination mountain resorts provide a full resort experience to a diversified audience with an appealing demographic profile. Skiing, snowboarding, snowshoeing, snowtubing, sightseeing, mountain biking, guided hiking, zip lines, challenge ropes courses, alpine slides, mountain coasters, childrens activities, and other recreational activities are just a few of the winter and summer activities available. Our Resorts are situated in close proximity to urban hubs with a combined population of over 100 million people.

BROOMFIELD, Colo., March 11, 2024 - Vail Resorts Inc (NYSE: MTN), the global leader in luxury mountain vacations, recently released its financial results for the second quarter of fiscal 2024, highlighting a decline in revenue but an increase in earnings per share. Despite the challenges faced in the November to January 31, 2024 financial period, the company managed to raise its earnings per share by 11.63% to $5.76 per share. However, revenue fell by 2.157% to $1.08 billion year on year.
While the Hotels & Tourism sector on average experienced a revenue growth in the second quarter of 2024, Vail Resorts Inc faced a decline. In the preceding reporting season, the company showed positive improvement in earnings per share from $-4.60 per share, and revenue doubled by 316.9% from $258.57 million. Net earnings also saw a 4.4% increase, reaching $229.805 million compared to $220.119 million in the previous year's financial span.
