David Hallett, Ph.D., age 54, has served as Interim Chief Executive Officer and Director since February 2024. He was Chief Scientific Officer from February 2023 to February 2024 and Chief Operations Officer from January 2020 to February 2023 at Exscientia. Hallett has over 20 years of experience in drug discovery and alliance management, including his role as Executive Vice President of Chemistry and Alliance Management at Evotec from September 2005 to December 2019. He trained as a medicinal chemist and was a Research Fellow at Merck & Co., Inc. He holds a B.A. from the University of Cambridge, a Ph.D. from the University of Manchester, and completed post-doctoral research at the University of Texas Austin.
Ben Taylor, age 46, is Chief Financial and Strategy Officer and Director, joining Exscientia in November 2020. He has over 20 years of experience, including 15 years in healthcare investment banking at Goldman Sachs and seven years in biotech and healthtech executive roles. Taylor served as interim CFO at Aetion, Inc. from April 2020 to November 2020, President and CFO at Tyme Technologies, Inc. from April 2017 to August 2020, and held senior positions at Barclays Capital Inc. and Goldman Sachs. He holds a B.A. with Honors from Brown University.
Michael Krams, M.D., age 63, has been Chief Medical Officer since April 2022. He has over 30 years of clinical development experience, including his tenure at The Janssen Pharmaceutical Companies of Johnson & Johnson from April 2013 to February 2022, where he was most recently Global Head of Quantitative Sciences. Krams trained in Internal Medicine and Neurology and holds an M.D. from the University of Munich. His postgraduate research was conducted at the Wellcome Department of Cognitive Neurology in London.
Elizabeth Crain, age 59, has served as a non-executive director since February 2021 and became Chair in February 2024. She co-founded Moelis & Company and was its Chief Operating Officer from 2007 to October 2023, overseeing global strategy and operations. Crain has over 30 years of experience in investment banking and private equity, including her roles at UBS Group AG as Managing Director from 2001 to 2007 and in private equity from 1997 to 2001.
