AMC Networks was formed in 2006 when Cablevision spun off its cable television programming business into a separate publicly traded company. The company later acquired Chellomedia, a leading cable television operator and content provider, which helped to expand its global footprint.

The company's flagship network, AMC, is known for producing some of the most popular and critically acclaimed television shows, including "The Walking Dead," "Breaking Bad," "Mad Men" and "Better Call Saul." IFC is a comedy-focused network that airs original series, sketch comedy shows and films. SundanceTV, on the other hand, is a destination for independent film, documentaries and original scripted series. WE tv is a network that targets women between the ages of 18-49 with original programming including reality shows, documentaries, and scripted dramas. The network features shows like eMama June: From Not to Hote and eMarriage Boot Camp: Reality Stars.e

In addition to its television networks, AMC Networks operates several digital platforms, including AMC.com, IFC.com, Shudder and Sundance Now, which provide subscription-based access to a variety of content.
