Business Description
We are the world’s largest manufacturer of fully-automatic transmissions
for medium- and heavy-duty commercial vehicles and medium- and heavy-tactical
U.S. defense vehicles. Allison transmissions are used in a wide variety of applications,
including on-highway trucks (distribution, refuse, construction, fire and emergency),
buses (primarily school, transit and hybrid-transit), motorhomes, off-highway
vehicles and equipment (primarily energy, mining and construction) and defense
vehicles (wheeled and tracked). We estimate that globally, we sold approximately
63% of all fully-automatic transmissions for medium- and heavy-duty on-highway
commercial vehicle applications. We believe the Allison brand is one of the most
recognized in our industry as a result of the performance, reliability and fuel
efficiency of our transmissions and is associated with high quality, durability,
vocational value, technological leadership and superior customer service.
