Masonite International's Comment on Supply Chain


Masonite is a vertically integrated door manufacturer that sources raw materials including wood chips, cut stock components, composites, steel, glass, aluminum, paint, stain, primer, and petroleum-based products such as binders, resins, and plastic injection frames. In 2023, materials accounted for approximately 49% of the finished product cost, with over half of these materials sourced from the United States. The company purchases wood chips, logs, resins, binders, and additives from global, regional, and local suppliers based on freight costs. Internal framing components, MDF, cut stock, and door cores are produced internally and supplemented by suppliers worldwide. Masonite's suppliers span North America, Europe, South America, and Asia, providing MDF, plywood, hardboard facings, door jambs, frames, glass frames, inserts, and steel coils. The company controls all stages of production, with component plants supplying door facings, frames, and hardware, and assembly facilities producing interior and exterior doors. Masonite employs the Mvantage lean operating system to improve operational efficiency and has implemented advanced manufacturing technologies at facilities including Stoke-on-Trent in Europe and Fort Mill in North America.
