Business Description
TIM S.A. is a publicly held company incorporated in Brazil on March 9, 1998, and was formerly known as Intelig Telecomunica'ees Ltda. The company's headquarters are situated in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, and its phone number is +55 (21) 4109-4167. The United States service agent for the company is Puglisi & Associates. The Brazilian state-owned telecommunications monopoly, Telebr's, was privatized in July 1998, and the Federal Government sold most of its shares in the 12 holding companies, including Tele Sudeste Celular Participa'ees S.A. and Tele Nordeste Celular Participa'ees S.A. After several acquisitions, reorganizations, and name changes, TIM Participa'ees was formed in 2004. Telecom Italia, through its wholly owned subsidiary, TIM Brasil, is the majority shareholder of TIM S.A. In 2009, TIM S.A. acquired Holdco Participa'ees Ltda, which was the holder of 100% of Intelig's capital, and Intelig became a wholly owned subsidiary of TIM. The purpose of the acquisition was to take advantage of Intelig's network, including its metropolitan optimal fiber network and its large backbone. TIM Celular was merged into the company as a result of the Reorganization in 2017. Instituto TIM was established in 2013 with the goal of democratizing science, technology, and innovation that promote human development in Brazil. In 2018, the reorganization resulted in the merger of TIM Celular into the Company. The purpose of this merger was to capture operating and financial synergies and to implement a more efficient operating structure, accounting, and internal control systems.
