He is also an independent director of AMTD IDEA Group since February 2022 and chief executive officer of AMTD Charity Foundation. Dr. Tong was president of The Hong Kong Polytechnic University from 2009 to 2018 and dean at George Washington University from 2000 to 2008. He holds a Ph.D. and master's degree in engineering from the University of California at Berkeley and a bachelor's degree from Oregon State University. Feridun Hamdullahpur, age 71, is Chairman of the Executive Management Committee and an Independent Director. He has been an independent director of the Controlling Shareholder since January 2019, chairman and independent director of AMTD IDEA Group, and co-chairperson and independent director of The Generation Essentials Group and TGE Value Creative Solutions Corp. Dr. Hamdullahpur is Chancellor of International Business University and served as president and vice-chancellor of the University of Waterloo from 2010 to 2021. He holds bachelor's and master's degrees in mechanical engineering from Technical University of Istanbul. Joanne Shoveller, age 65, is Co-chairperson of the Board of Directors and an Independent Director. Giampietro Baudo, age 49, is Chief Executive Officer. Xavier Zee, age 51, is Chief Financial Officer.
