The Brand Group and the Membership Group compete for the time and attention of consumers with a wide range of internet companies, including Yahoo, Google , Microsoft’s MSN, IAC/InteractiveCorp., specialized digital content companies like Business Insider, Buzzfeed, The Verge and CNET; and social networking companies such as Facebook, Inc. and Twitter, Inc., as well as traditional media companies which are increasingly offering their own internet products and services.
The AOL Networks technology platform competes with other end-to-end platform offerings such as Google and Yahoo, and AppNexus also aims to be in this competitive set. With respect to programmatic advertising, AOL Networks competes with companies that have one or more of our offerings such as Media Math, Rocket Fuel Inc., Pubmatic, Inc. and Turn Inc. that aim to service automation needs for advertisers and publishers. AOL Networks also competes with companies such as Videology, Inc. in video, Millennial Media, Inc. with respect to mobile and Conversant, Inc. and Criteo S.A. with respect to our Third Party Network. AOL Networks also competes with large video aggregators such as Hulu and YouTube. In premium formats, AOL Networks competes with companies such as Media Mind and Undertone that specialize in ad experiences.
Our subscription services compete with other providers of bundled subscription services.
Internationally, our primary competitors are global enterprises such as Yahoo, Google, MSN, IAC, Facebook and other social networking sites, as well as a large number of local enterprises.
The internet industry is dynamic and rapidly evolving, and new and popular competitors, such as social networking sites, providers of communications tools and providers of advertising products and services, frequently emerge. We also compete with the companies listed above for talent in, among other areas, technology skills and content creation.
