# CSIMarket — Full Reference for AI Assistants > This is the detailed companion to /llms.txt (the short index). Read this file for the complete > picture: what CSIMarket is capable of via MCP and the API, and — separately — what's actually > on the website for free versus what requires a subscription. ## Where to find CSIMarket content | What | URL | |---|---| | Website (research, sales, free current-quarter view) | https://csimarket.com | | API base | https://api.csimarket.com/api/v1 | | API discovery index (full endpoint map) | https://api.csimarket.com/api/discovery | | OpenAPI spec (machine-readable contract) | https://api.csimarket.com/api/openapi.json | | Dataset catalog | https://api.csimarket.com/api/datasets | | Field dictionary | https://api.csimarket.com/api/fields | | Live coverage (entity counts, date ranges) | https://api.csimarket.com/api/coverage | | Methodology (TTM calc, z-scores, percentile ranks) | https://api.csimarket.com/api/methodology | | Free sample, no key required | https://api.csimarket.com/api/examples | | Pricing (live, machine-readable) | https://api.csimarket.com/api/pricing | | Pricing (human page) | https://csimarket.com/pricing/ | | Products catalog | https://csimarket.com/products/ | | MCP server (Claude / ChatGPT / any MCP client) | https://mcp.csimarket.com | | MCP server info page | https://csimarket.com/mcp.php | | Licensing / OEM questions | https://csimarket.com/help/licensing/ | | Search (find any company/industry/sector/page on the site) | https://csimarket.com/stocks/search.php | | Contact | data.info@csimarket.com | --- # Part 1 — What CSIMarket is capable of, via MCP and the API Live coverage (from /api/coverage, checked before writing this): **110 CSIMarket industries · 13 CSIMarket sectors · 156 NAICS codes · 410 SIC codes · 13,000+ US-listed companies** (SEC-filer universe, keyed by CIK), ~20 years of quarterly history. Core value: every company and every industry is measured on one consistent set of definitions, which is what makes the data usable for peer benchmarking, screening, factor research, credit analysis, and grounding AI applications — a model reasons more reliably from "this company's ROA vs. its industry median" than from raw, inconsistently-tagged SEC filings. ## MCP — the fastest path for an AI assistant `mcp.csimarket.com` is a Model Context Protocol server. Add it as a custom connector in Claude or ChatGPT (or any MCP-compatible client), sign in with a CSIMarket account, and the assistant gets **61 tools**, each scoped live to exactly what that signed-in account's subscription licenses. There is no hidden logic beyond what the API itself does — a tool never computes a score the API did not return, and a tool's payload is byte-identical to the equivalent REST call (one deliberate exception: the relationship/graph tools hide who disclosed each relationship by default — pass `reveal_source=true` to see the full REST-equivalent payload). Most tools map one-to-one onto a REST endpoint; a few older ones group closely-related endpoints behind a `sections` argument (`csimarket_company_financials`, `csimarket_industry`). MCP tool calls return structured JSON. **Report generation is live**: `csimarket_export_report` builds a CSV, Excel, JSON or PDF file directly from a tool call — see "File downloads" below. ## The REST API — full product catalog by category Full machine-readable detail always at /api/discovery and /api/openapi.json. **Company** (the largest category, 73 endpoints): overview; growth, profitability, valuation, financial strength, efficiency, management effectiveness, per-share (each TTM/FY/Q); factor scores incl. Piotroski/Beneish/Altman; cross-sectional z-scores; 5-year quant profile; probabilistic signals; a combined dashboard; the 90-field quant factor & risk panel (current + historical, point-in-time and survivorship-safe back to 2013 — delisted/deregistered/merged names stay in the panel, so backtests aren't biased); income/balance/cash-flow statements as flat rows and as display views; ownership (summary, holders, top holders, quarter-over-quarter changes, history) and the reverse manager view; the relationship graph (competitors, customers, suppliers with role tags, partners, investments, joint ventures, licensing, distribution, full history, a 2-5-company compare, and supply-chain geography); market share against the disclosed competitor set (`/companies/{id}/market-share` for the current member-level detail and `/companies/{id}/market-share/history` for the annual TTM series, both measured against the combined revenue of the disclosed set, never a share of the total addressable market); business-segment and geographic revenue exposure; semantic company search (by name or by business/concept, e.g. "offshore oil and gas drilling"); point-in-time fundamentals (as-of/original/latest with knowledge-time) and the earnings-announcement calendar behind them (`/companies/{id}/earnings-dates`, announcement date vs filing date, so a point-in-time query can align to the announcement rather than the period end); insider transactions, summary, and by-person; same-industry similar-companies; and a composed research dossier (`/companies/{id}/research-dossier`) that returns up to 13 company sections in one call (overview, ratios, quant, ownership, relationships, segments, recent events), each section gated by the caller's own licence rather than all-or-nothing. **Industry & Sector** (~20 endpoints): list, overview, growth, profitability, valuation, financial strength, efficiency, management effectiveness, and a combined dashboard — each available at both the industry and sector level; semantic industry/sector search. **Market — fundamentals** (~8 endpoints): total-market overview, growth, profitability, valuation, financial strength, efficiency, management effectiveness, and a combined dashboard, aggregated across the entire coverage universe. **Share prices, breadth & indices** (10 endpoints): a company's latest or historical quote (`/stocks/{id}/price`) and its daily OHLCV series back to 2006 (`/stocks/{id}/history`); cap-weighted total-market performance with price breadth (`/market/performance`); the day's gainers, losers and most-active names (`/market/movers`); the six index composites — U.S.A. 500 (GSPC), U.S.A. 30 (DJI), U.S.A. Tech (IXIC), U.S.A. Tech 100 (NDX), U.S.A. Small-Cap (RUT) and U.S.A. Volatility (VIX) — at `/indices/{index}`; and sector- and industry-level league tables at `/sectors/performance` and `/industries/performance`, each carrying returns over 1d/5d/20d/60d/120d/252d trading-day windows plus calendar 1w/1m/QTD/YTD/TTM, breadth as advancers/decliners/unchanged, company count, and total and average market cap. On top of those sit three rotation and regime endpoints: a market regime read (`/market/regime`, breadth, dispersion and leadership state on the resolved date) and sector and industry rotation (`/sectors/rotation`, `/industries/rotation`, leadership rank, rank change and rotation quadrant), which describe where leadership currently sits, and are not forecasts. Five things to state accurately when using these, because getting them wrong produces a confident wrong answer: - They are **daily**. They take `date=YYYY-MM-DD`, never `period_type` — TTM or FY returns HTTP 400. - Any trading day can be reproduced, but **cap-weighted aggregates begin 2013-04-01**; an earlier date is refused with an explanation rather than silently approximated. Weights come from the last completed quarter before the date, with no lookahead, and the response labels which quarter in `meta.weight_basis`. - **Prices and weights are on different clocks, and the response says so.** `meta.as_of` is the price date; `meta.structure_as_of` is the date of the market-cap panel the weights came from, which is typically one session behind. If the requested quarter's panel has not been built yet, the response clamps to the latest available quarter and says which one in `meta.weight_basis` — read that field rather than assuming the weights match the price date. - **Only three of the six indices have constituent lists**: U.S.A. 500, U.S.A. Tech 100 and U.S.A. Small-Cap. U.S.A. 30, U.S.A. Tech and U.S.A. Volatility are served as benchmark quotes only — a real quote, no membership. And for all of them **constituent lists exist only for the current snapshot**: a past date returns that day's real benchmark quote but `null` constituents, because membership history does not exist in the data and reconstructing it would be survivorship-biased. Do not present a historical constituent list as if it were sourced. - `typical_price` is `(high + low + close) / 3`. It is **not** a volume-weighted VWAP, and it is named honestly for that reason. MCP tools over this surface, one per endpoint: `csimarket_stock_price`, `csimarket_stock_price_history`, `csimarket_market_performance`, `csimarket_market_movers`, `csimarket_index_composite`, `csimarket_sector_performance`, `csimarket_industry_performance`. The index tools accept common market names — "S&P 500", "Dow", "DJIA", "Nasdaq 100", "Russell 2000", "VIX" — and resolve them to CSIMarket's names, saying which mapping was applied. Bare "Nasdaq" is ambiguous (Composite vs. Nasdaq-100) and is refused rather than guessed, and ETF tickers (SPY, QQQ, IWM, DIA) are refused because they are funds, not indices. **News** (~8 endpoints): company, industry, sector, and market-wide news; a canonical universal feed; an event-typed quant feed; a single canonical article; a deduplicated multi-source story cluster. **Screening & Bulk**: a cross-sectional quant factor screener (factor z-scores, risk scores, index membership, momentum regime) and an ownership screener, both on every paid tier. Bulk cursor-paginated statement endpoints (`/income-statements`, `/balance-sheets`, `/cash-flow-statements`, no ticker = all companies) plus async CSV/JSON export jobs (`POST` the same path + `/export` to start a job, then poll for a download URL) are **Enterprise only** (changed 2026-08-30 — these were previously Professional and Enterprise). Per-call report downloads on the lower paid tiers are a separate product, described under File downloads below. **File downloads — two separate products, do not conflate them:** 1. **Custom reports, inside MCP** (`reports.read`, **every paid tier**). `csimarket_export_report` generates a **CSV, Excel, JSON or PDF** file from any licensed dataset in a single tool call. Small files come back attached to the response; a large one is hosted and the response carries a download link that expires. Nothing is ever silently truncated — an oversized report is refused with instructions to narrow it. Two composite reports are built in: `market_snapshot` (price, breadth, indices, movers **and** the fundamentals aggregates in one multi-section document, and it accepts `date` for any trading day) and `profitability_vs_industry` (a company's margins against its own industry's aggregate, median and quartiles). The underlying dataset still needs its own scope — exporting an income statement requires `statements.read` as usual; `reports.read` unlocks the formatting, never the data. 2. **Bulk dataset export, via REST** (`bulk.read`, **Enterprise only**). The all-companies statement dumps — `POST` the bulk path + `/export` to start an async job, then poll for a download URL. This is a whole-universe extract, which is why it sits on a different tier. **Enterprise-only additions**: relationship evidence (source provenance behind each graph edge), relationship economic value (explicit disclosed amounts vs. CSIMarket-derived exposure, kept strictly separate and labeled), and customer-concentration analytics (HHI over named customers, with unknown exposure always shown as unknown, never assumed zero). ## What this is used for Peer benchmarking and screening; credit and solvency analysis (liquidity, leverage, debt coverage, Altman Z-score); quant factor research and survivorship-safe backtesting; ownership and insider-sentiment tracking; supply-chain and counterparty-relationship risk; and grounding AI/LLM applications with normalized, comparable financial data instead of raw filings. --- # Part 2 — What's on the website: Free vs. Subscriber content The website (csimarket.com) is the public, browsable face of the same data the API and MCP serve. Verified directly against live pages before writing this (not assumed): on both a company page (e.g. Valuation Comparisons) and an industry page (e.g. Valuation), the **current-period figure is shown to every visitor**; going further is gated behind a real subscribe/license prompt, confirmed live — e.g. an industry Valuation page shows one current multiple (like "5.54x") openly, then a locked panel reading *"Multi-period multiples, dispersion and cross-industry percentile rankings for [Industry] require a subscription or commercial license."* A company page's own structured data explicitly marks its CSV download as `isAccessibleForFree: false`, requiring an active subscription. ## Three ways to get any CSIMarket data point Every metric is reachable three ways — pick whichever fits the situation: MCP (an AI assistant calling a tool live), the REST API (building an application), or a direct website link (a human, or an AI handing someone a URL). All three return the same underlying data. **Worked example — Microsoft (MSFT) → Company → Efficiency → Receivables Turnover** (real, each piece verified live before writing this): 1. **MCP** — call `csimarket_company_financials` with `{company: "MSFT", ratios: ["efficiency"]}`. The response's `ratios_efficiency` block includes the field `receivable_turnover` (real field name, confirmed via the public field dictionary at `/api/fields?dataset=company_fundamentals` — category `"Turnover"`, description "Revenue to accounts receivable (receivables conversion speed)"), alongside the endpoint's other efficiency fields (asset turnover, working-capital days, ROE/ROA/ROIC/ROCE). 2. **API** — `GET https://api.csimarket.com/api/v1/companies/MSFT/efficiency` (an API key is required; the field name in the response is `receivable_turnover`). 3. **Web link** — `https://csimarket.com/stocks/singleEfficiencyrt.php?code=MSFT` (free, current-quarter figure; full history needs a subscription — see Part 2 above). ### Company data — MCP tool ↔ REST endpoint ↔ website section | What | MCP tool | REST endpoint | Website section | |---|---|---|---| | Identity, headline metrics | `csimarket_company_overview` | `/companies/{id}/overview` | Profile | | Income/balance/cashflow statements | `csimarket_company_financials` (`statements: [...]`) | `/companies/{id}/income-statements` etc. | Financial Data | | Growth ratios | `csimarket_company_financials` (`ratios: ["growth"]`) | `/companies/{id}/growth` | Growth (Revenue, Income, Cash Flow, EPS) | | Profitability ratios | `csimarket_company_financials` (`ratios: ["profitability"]`) | `/companies/{id}/profitability` | Profitability (Net Margin, Gross Margin, EBITDA Margin) | | Valuation ratios | `csimarket_company_financials` (`ratios: ["valuation"]`) | `/companies/{id}/valuation` | Valuation (P/E, P/B, P/S, PCF) | | Dividend yield (field `dividend_yield`, part of the valuation response) | `csimarket_company_financials` (`ratios: ["valuation"]`) | `/companies/{id}/valuation` | Dividend (Growth, Payout, History) — the website page also shows quarterly dividend-per-share growth/payout history, which isn't yet exposed as its own API/MCP field beyond the yield ratio | | Financial strength ratios | `csimarket_company_financials` (`ratios: ["strength"]`) | `/companies/{id}/financial-strength` | Debt to Equity / LT Debt to Equity / Quick Ratio / Working Capital / Leverage Ratio (see table below) | | Efficiency ratios (incl. receivables/inventory/asset turnover) | `csimarket_company_financials` (`ratios: ["efficiency"]`) | `/companies/{id}/efficiency` | Inventory / Receivables / Asset Turnover (see table below) | | Management effectiveness | `csimarket_company_financials` (`ratios: ["management"]`) | `/companies/{id}/management-effectiveness` | (no dedicated page; Pass a `name` (e.g. "Semiconductors") if the numeric id isn't known yet — it's searched automatically, matching `csimarket_industry_search` / the website's own search box. ### Website URL patterns (solution 3, in full) Every company page follows a predictable URL keyed by ticker — replace `{TICKER}`. | Section | Page | URL pattern | |---|---|---| | Company | Profile | `https://csimarket.com/stocks/{TICKER}/profile/` | | Company | Financial Data (income statement) | `https://csimarket.com/stocks/{TICKER}-Income-Statement` | | Company | Growth (Revenue, Income, Cash Flow, EPS) | `https://csimarket.com/stocks/growthrates.php?code={TICKER}` | | Company | Profitability (Net Margin, Gross Margin, EBITDA Margin) | `https://csimarket.com/stocks/Profitability.php?code={TICKER}` | | Company | Valuation (P/E, P/B, P/S, PCF) | `https://csimarket.com/stocks/{TICKER}-Valuation-Comparisons.html` | | Company | Stock Charts / Technical Analysis | `https://csimarket.com/stocks/{TICKER}-Technical-Analysis` | | Company | Dividend (Growth, Payout, History) | `https://csimarket.com/stocks/single_dividend.php?code={TICKER}` | | Company | News | `https://csimarket.com/stocks/news.php?code={TICKER}` | | Company | Market Share | `https://csimarket.com/stocks/competitionSEG2.php?code={TICKER}` | | Company | Competitors | `https://csimarket.com/stocks/compet_glance.php?code={TICKER}` | | Company | Suppliers | `https://csimarket.com/stocks/suppliers_glance.php?code={TICKER}` | | Company | Corporate Clients | `https://csimarket.com/stocks/markets_glance.php?code={TICKER}` | | Company | Business Segments | `https://csimarket.com/stocks/{TICKER}-Business-Segments` | | Company | Industry Peers (needs the company's industry id, not the ticker) | `https://csimarket.com/Industry/Industry_Data.php?ind={IND_ID}` | | Company → Efficiency | Inventory Turnover (Cost of Sales / Inventory) | `https://csimarket.com/stocks/singleEfficiencyit.php?code={TICKER}` | | Company → Efficiency | Receivables Turnover (Revenue / Accounts Receivable) | `https://csimarket.com/stocks/singleEfficiencyrt.php?code={TICKER}` | | Company → Efficiency | Asset Turnover (Revenue / Total Assets) | `https://csimarket.com/stocks/singleEfficiencyat.php?code={TICKER}` | | Company → Financial Strength | Debt to Equity (Total Debt / Equity) | `https://csimarket.com/stocks/singleFinancialStrength.php?code={TICKER}&Tte` | | Company → Financial Strength | LT Debt to Equity (Long Term Debt / Equity) | `https://csimarket.com/stocks/singleFinancialStrength.php?code={TICKER}&Lte` | | Company → Financial Strength | Quick Ratio (Cash / Current Liabilities) | `https://csimarket.com/stocks/singleFinancialStrength.php?code={TICKER}&Qr` | | Company → Financial Strength | Working Capital (Current Assets - Current Liabilities) | `https://csimarket.com/stocks/singleFinancialStrength.php?code={TICKER}&Wcr` | | Company → Financial Strength | Leverage Ratio (Total Liabilities / Equity) | `https://csimarket.com/stocks/singleFinancialStrength.php?code={TICKER}&Le` | Industry/sector pages are keyed by CSIMarket's own numeric id (`?ind=` for an industry, `?s=` for a sector — look the id up via `/api/v1/industries` or the search page below, e.g. Semiconductors is `ind=1010`). The bare label below is the industry's own trend/benchmark page; "X Rankings" is the page ranking every company within that industry by the same metric: | Section | Page | URL pattern | |---|---|---| | Industry | Constituents (Market Cap, Revenue, Employees) | `https://csimarket.com/Industry/Industry_Data.php?ind={IND_ID}` | | Industry | Performance (Daily, Weekly, YTD Returns) | `https://csimarket.com/Industry/Industry_Performance.php?ind={IND_ID}` | | Industry | Growth (Revenue, Income, Cash Flow) | `https://csimarket.com/Industry/industry_growth_rates.php?rev&ind={IND_ID}` | | Industry | Profitability (Gross, Operating, EBITDA Margins) | `https://csimarket.com/Industry/industry_Profitability_Ratios.php?ind={IND_ID}` | | Industry | Valuation (P/E, EV/EBITDA, Multiples) | `https://csimarket.com/Industry/industry_valuation_ttm.php?ind={IND_ID}` | | Industry | Financial Strength (Liquidity, Leverage, Coverage) | `https://csimarket.com/Industry/industry_Financial_Strength_Ratios.php?ind={IND_ID}` | | Industry | Efficiency (Revenue per Employee, Turnover Ratios) | `https://csimarket.com/Industry/industry_Efficiency.php?ind={IND_ID}` | | Industry | Management Effectiveness (ROA, ROI, ROE) | `https://csimarket.com/Industry/industry_ManagementEffectiveness.php?ind={IND_ID}` | | Industry | Growth Rankings (Fastest Growing Companies) | `https://csimarket.com/Industry/Industry_Growth.php?ind={IND_ID}` | | Industry | Profitability Rankings (Most Profitable Companies) | `https://csimarket.com/Industry/Industry_Profitability.php?ind={IND_ID}` | | Industry | Valuation Rankings (P/E, P/S, P/B by Company) | `https://csimarket.com/Industry/Industry_Valuation.php?ind={IND_ID}` | | Industry | Financial Strength Rankings (Debt to Equity, Quick Ratio by Company) | `https://csimarket.com/Industry/Industry_Financial_strength.php?ind={IND_ID}` | **Don't know the ticker or industry id? Use the search page** — `https://csimarket.com/stocks/search.php?q=` understands natural phrasing directly (e.g. `?q=MSFT+receivables+turnover`, `?q=semiconductors+growth+rankings`, or `?q=NVDA+dividend`) and resolves straight to the right page without needing to build a URL by hand. It's typo-tolerant (e.g. `?q=mikrosoft` still resolves to MSFT), and a query naming a specific past year or the word "history" surfaces a notice that multi-period/historical data needs a subscription (see the free vs. subscriber split above) rather than silently guessing at a year the free tier can't show. The search page itself also carries a "Download this file" link to this very document, for a visitor who wants to hand it to their own AI assistant. ## Free, no account needed - Every company's current-quarter snapshot: growth, profitability, valuation, financial strength, efficiency, management effectiveness, technical analysis, dividend history, business segments, competitors, suppliers, customers, market share, news, and profile pages — one current value/period per page. - Every industry's and sector's current-quarter aggregate figures, and the industry/sector constituent (company-ranking) list pages. - Markets at a Glance, Best & Worst Performing Stocks, and other market-wide snapshot pages. - Screening & rankings pages (single current-quarter ranked lists). - The glossary, general news, and the API's public metadata surface (`/api/discovery`, `/api/datasets`, `/api/fields`, `/api/coverage`, `/api/methodology`, `/api/examples`). ## Requires a subscription (any paid tier — Individual, Professional, or Enterprise) - **Historical time series** behind any current-quarter figure — multi-period trends, not just today's number. - **Dispersion and percentile-ranking statistics** — where a company or industry sits in its peer distribution, not just the raw value. - **CSV/bulk downloads** from any page — explicitly gated in the page's own metadata. - **Full API and MCP access** — programmatic access to every dataset in Part 1 above (all three paid tiers get the same data breadth; bulk/export volume, a few Enterprise-only relationship- risk datasets, and seat/location scope are what actually differ between tiers — see /llms.txt or /api/pricing for the exact tier table).
